Results from the project showed that soil extractable S was not a reliable indicator of likely yield response to S - this is why #RB209 does not recommend soil sampling for S. The often cited critical value of <10 mg/l S was not supported by the results from this project.
Planning #sulphur applications to #oilseedrape ? Between 2011 & 2018 we carried out 18 S response exp on OSR with @AHDB_Cereals. 10 of 18 trials showed a yld response of 0.1-4.4 t/ha. Economic optimum S rates were 30-79 kg SO3/ha, supporting current #RB209 recs of 50-80 kg SO3/ha
