#RFKFiles: Unfortunately the sound quality on the original audio tape was very poor, and investigators (using available 1969 technology) could not isolate any gunshot sounds. Ultimately the tape was not used as evidence in Sirhan’s trial, and stayed locked in the archives.

In the #RFKFiles CIA boxes we find this Post dispatch from Jordan interviewing Sirhan’s father . Bishara Sirhan said that while he regretted the murder of Robert Kennedy “as a human being” he did not regret the murder of “Kennedy the politician” because of his support for Israel

#RFKFiles: after the RFK assassination, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, sent out a call across the Arab world asking for donations in support of Sirhan’s family and requesting Arab lawyers to come to Sirhan Sirhan’s defense. Many answered the Mufti’s call.

#RFKFiles: This wasn’t the first time Sirhan’s brother Sharif had been in serious trouble with the law. In 1963 Sharif was arrested for the attempted murder of his ex girlfriend when he cut the brake lines on her car. He got a very lenient 2-year suspended sentence.

#RFKFiles: Secret Service and FBI took the threat seriously, particularly after the murders of MLK and RFK. FBI agents interviewed a “hostile” Sharif Sirhan, who denied writing or signing the letter, but refused to provide handwriting examples or swear a statement under oath.

#RFKFiles: During the subsequent FBI investigation into the RFK assassination, federal authorities intercepted and examined copies of this threat letter. The return address was "Sharif B. Sirhan 696 East Howard Street Pasadena, CA". Sirhan’s brother Munir still lives there now
