@RobSchneider Wow! #RobSchneider is a great public speaker, absolutely wonderful. I've always liked him as a talented actor, always likeable but today I learned what a talented speaker he is that allows us to see what a wonderfully beautiful spirit he has as well. #CharlieKirk #SaintTelemachus

Today, think of #SaintTelemachus, the peacemaker. Versions vary, but Telemachus interposed his body between 2 gladiators, shouting: “In the name of God, stop!” The angry crowd stoned him to death. But later, the Roman emperor banned such cruel sport 🇷🇺☦️🇺🇦 https://t.co/GEAITfqlKw

That’s a Peter Howson👆. And how come, after years of studying #nonviolence, it was only today that I learned of #SaintTelemachus? Name means “far from battle”. His intervention in a gladiatorial spectacle led to the crowd stoning him to death, then the ending of such brutality.

On this day in 404 AD, #SaintTelemachus tried to stop a gladiatorial fight in a Roman amphitheater & was stoned to death by the crowd. The Christian Emperor #Honorius, however, was impressed by the monk's martyrdom and it spurred him to issue a historic ban on gladiatorial games.

On this day in 404 A.D., #SaintTelemachus-a Christian monk-tried to stop a gladiatorial fight in a Roman amphitheater, and was stoned to death by the crowd. This act so impressed the Christian Emperor Honorius that he issued a historic ban on the gladiatorial games.
