🔎Continuing to read through filed #txlege bills: @TanParkerTX filed #SB780 late yesterday which seeks to establish a Homeland Security Division within the Texas Department of Public Safety to coordinate and enhance statewide security efforts. The division will oversee multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional, and public-private initiatives to strengthen state security, including border security operations and critical infrastructure protection. It will also handle intelligence collection, analysis, and dissemination and manage surveillance operations, such as Operation Drawbridge. The division will develop strategic homeland security plans, coordinate risk assessments, and facilitate federal and state compliance on security matters. The bill centralizes the management and operations of existing Border Security Operations Centers under the new division. Additionally, the division will set priorities for homeland security-related grant programs and maintain a publicly accessible repository of its non-confidential reports and assessments.

The idea of the baby boxes in #SB780 is that there is no trace. No family member will know where the baby ended up--it's supposed to be impossible to trace the baby to the mother. The boxes have enough air for several hours. (Obviously if the baby is choking that won't help.)
