A5: Being valued & thought of equally with other subject areas. Health and PE are part of a well rounded education. To be a lifelong learner we must first have a long life. We dont stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing. BE PERSISTENT #SHAPEPhysEd
@SHAPEAmerica A5: The most common challenge I face the red tape I have to go through to get support if it is approved. There are so many individuals that you either need to meet with or write letters to in order for anything you do to be approved or in most cases denied. #SHAPEPhysEd
@SHAPEAmerica A4: My community assist every year with my field day event. I did have my community partners assist with a wellness program supplying the school with resources to run programs for students. #SHAPEPhysEd
A4b: It's about exposing your students to as much as possible so that when they are out of school they find their outlet for movement and wellness. Because there isn't just one way. Park Districts and other resources are key!! #SHAPEPhysed
A4: Finding community partners and groups to strengthen your program is a MUST! No matter the size of your city/county/district, there WILL be orgs and groups who want to help with the physical literacy journey of the youth there! #SHAPEPhysEd
A4 Having community involvement helps a lot, I feel. Feel it extends the learning outside of the classroom and shows a lifelong involvement in activities (something I need to think about doing) #SHAPEPhysEd
A4: They boost your program sometimes with special events or unique opportunities. What comes to mind is building a Wellness/Health fair or access to specific equipment/resources for your program like roller skating, rock walls, and other outdoor adventure ed spaces. #SHAPEPhysEd
A3 the amount of engagement, the # of opportunities but also what other districts have provided for their students #SHAPEPhysEd
A3: I try to provide evidence of how additional resources have benefited other schools. I also bring back what I see and learn when I attend conventions/conferences and what I see those in my PLC are doing across the country to positively impact their programs. #SHAPEPhysEd
@SHAPEAmerica A3: When providing evidence I show data collected and discuss how the data I collected could positively change with the support of additional funding or resources. #SHAPEPhysEd
@SHAPEAmerica A2: Before I was "semi" retired, I was lucky to work in a district that had someone who looked for potential grants for different contents, not just #HPE. I worked with my teachers to help secure funds. #SHAPEPhysEd
