The pollinators are enjoying the nodding heads of Devil’s-bit scabious in my garden #Shutterton #Dawlish #Devon
Pleased to see this #BrownArgus butterfly on the 'rough patch' out front just now, even if it is a bit tatty, they've been more scarce here this year as the management of the wild area has been poor with random illogical patchwork spraying & cutting #Shutterton #Dawlish #Devon
This splendid creature crossed our path today, dressed for a street festival! The caterpillar of the Sycamore moth I believe #Shutterton #Dawlish
Best bit of the day, standing outside listening to our Tawny owlets calling to each other and knowing they’re doing well. More difficult to see now but occasionally we get to see them flitting about in the shadows #Shutterton #Dawlish #Devon
Covid sucks! Awful couple of weeks but so glad I have the garden to keep me smiling. This #GoldenRingedDragonfly spent most of the day by the garden ponds today #Shutterton #Dawlish #Devon
well chuffed to see our #GreenWoodpeckers have fledged another juvenile again this year 😀#Shutterton #Dawlish #Devon
Yesterday I had a very brief visit from a #Ringlet butterfly in the garden, couldn't get to camera quick enough. Today it returned & I assumed it drifted over on the breeze from our woodland out front so I scrambled over there & found 6 more, a garden first #Shutterton #Dawlish
At only around 4mm in size it's not easy to photograph this bee with a 500mm fixed lens 😂 I've waited to see one in the garden again this year - a male #CommonMiniMiner I believe, poor thing is covered in mites #Shutterton #Dawlish #Devon
Just stepped outside to check the Viper's Bugloss Echium Vulgare and it's here! The noisey little #GreenEyedFlowerBee has arrived! I'm doing a little happy dance now 😀#Shutterton #Dawlish
Delightful to see this bee drop down onto this soft bed of seed heads, relaxed its body and legs then just laid there in the warmth for several moments 😍 Thought it might possibly be Davies Colletes but I'm often wrong when trying to ID these #Shutterton #Dawlish #Devon
And things are looking up slightly - a single #WesternBeeFly Bombylius canescens in the garden this morning #Shutterton #Dawlish
Oh my goodness, finally a single #WoolCarderBee in the garden this morning! Hopefully more will follow #Shutterton #Dawlish
I love the way the #WoodCarderBees prize open the #KidneyVetch flowers to get the nectar. I'm used to seeing them on the Stachys in my garden, not seen them on Kidney vetch before, interesting to watch them dive into the flowers #Shutterton #Dawlish #Devon
And when I came back to the garden for coffee, a stunning #GoldenRingedDragonfly flew in and settled for a while by the pond😃#Shutterton #Dawlish #Devon
Went to check out our wildflower margin here on the development for insects, eerily quiet but thrilled to finally come across a few #WoolCarderBees in the #KidneyVetch right at the very last bit I searched in #Shutterton #Dawlish
Thought our #TawnyOwls had moved on as we hadn't seen them since Sunday night, then after Springwatch I looked out to check and there they were in their usual spot! Mum and the 2 Owlets 😍 #Shutterton #Dawlish #Devon
#GreatSpottedWoodpecker parent feeding young at feeder, not ideal but until we ALL address the lack of insects I will continue to prop up our small population of birds in our now isolated woodland -They've just cut it in half with a road & '00s more houses😢#Shutterton #Dawlish
@BBCSpringwatch Also taken from my bedroom window this week on a new Redrow housing estate #TawnyOwlets #Shutterton #Dawlish #Devon #UrbanWildlife
