One lesson I learned the hard way in crypto is that being in a hurry can be more expensive than being wrong.
I once prepared a USDT transfer and copied the address from my recent transaction history because I assumed it was the same wallet I had used before. Before confirming the transaction, I stopped and compared the first and last characters of the address with the one I actually intended to use.
They didn’t match.
It turned out I had copied a different address from my history. If I had sent the funds without that final check, getting them back would have been extremely difficult, if not impossible.
Since then, I never treat “I’ve used this address before” as enough. I verify the full address, network, destination, and when possible, check the wallet’s on-chain history before sending.
In crypto, the final 30 seconds of checking can protect you from a very expensive mistake.
