If @AndamanCEO can build a simple voter-search utility (developed and deployed within hours) for the #SIR2002-03 list, why can’t @ECISVEEP, with a fully staffed IT division, implement the same nationwide? Such a tool dramatically reduces the workload of BLOs. If @SpokespersonECI is genuinely serious about minimising their hardship, this should have been the absolute minimum step. Failure to provide even this basic functionality will inevitably lead to adverse inferences about intent and responsiveness. @PMOIndia @KirenRijiju @HMOIndia

DEADLINE EXTENDED BY ONE WEEK BUT THE OBDURACY OF @ECISVEEP CONTINUES UNABATED... even as reports of suiçidés, resignations, terminations and FIRs against BLOs keep pouring in from different parts of the country. A long post but it may be worth your time... From more than 5 months since the commencement of #SIR 2003 exercise till publication of the draft rolls to 49 days now in #SIR2025 (including this 7 days extension)! Why this '2-minute-maggie-noodle' rush? Nobody can dispute the importance of Special Intensive Revision (#SIR2025) for cleaning up the Electoral Rolls but an avoidable controversy has been created by some bizarre utterances & questionablev decisions including: ✅ Publicly undermining the need for de-duplication (then why SIR at all if the same person with a criminal intent can vote from multiple Booths/Constituencies/States?) by the CEC himself ✅ Withdrawing ERONET Software access from States, Districts and Constituencies ✅ Issuing unrealistic and coercive timelines despite ground feedback to the contrary As someone having worked in the Government for 36 years plus and having experience of 10 elections, I wish to pose few basic questions to #GyaneshKumar and other Election Commissioners in @SpokespersonECI: 1️⃣ Why such unseemly hurry even in 7 States/UTs not going to the polls in the near future? Why not calibrate and relax timelines (proper training and then more time for field survey by the trainees who qualify) across the 12 States/UTs based on upcoming poll dates? 2️⃣ Why is SIR not being conducted in Assam for the upcoming elections there in 2026 by simply filing an affidavit in keeping with Section 6A of Indian Citizenship Act and #SupremeCourtOfIndia monitored National Register of Citizenship? Is it because of the break-up of 19 lakh foreigners residing in Assam? 3️⃣ Is there a method in this madness and tearing haste of creating Electoral Rolls which will form the basis for elections in the next two decades? The Election Commission must act objectively in the long term interest of democracy in India. 4️⃣ Why have the guidelines of #SIR 2003 been removed from the Election Commission archives so carefully that even Wayback Machine can't dig it out? Finally, someone shared a printed copy of the same with me (copy here https://t.co/aWj9fDNQeM for anyone wanting to go on more depth by seeing full document). The schedule in 2003 was far more relaxed despite there being lesser paper work. 5️⃣ Why are machine readable SIR 2002-03 voter lists not being made accessible to the BLOs at least? With quite a few BLOs not being IT savvy or properly trained and with a lot of voters not having any of the 11 documents, the BLOs are being compelled to manually go through the voters' list of the earlier Polling Booth. Nobody expects answers #GyaneshKumar et al.
