I think it is Vusi Thembakoyoβs appearance at #ThePlatform earlier this year that made me see hate differently. Hate is not a bad thing at all. Hate is actually necessary for prosperity and Nigerians need to learn how to hate unapologetically.
Yesterday, someone shared a picture of a governor on WhatsApp with the caption βxxx baka da hassada, a raba kowa ya samuβ which translates to βA governor without envy, share let it reach everyoneβ. This gross normalisation of corruption and the acceptance that a governor can siphon public funds as long as they share the proceeds is why the state languishes at the bottom of nearly every development index.
We must collectively learn to hate oppression, corruption, mediocrity, injustice, incompetence in public office, impunity, nepotism, tribalism, ethnic bigotry, religious bigotry, election rigging, vote buying, theft of public funds, greed, poverty, bad governance, waste, inefficiency, lawlessness, silence in the face of wrongdoing, celebration of ill-gotten wealth, poor service delivery, etc.
Nigeria can only prosper if the citizens demand better and refuse to normalise what is destroying their future.
