Check out our chapter in Studies in Language Testing. Lots of useful work in this series for #tleap and assessment folk
@RobPlayfair It is dead here. I have opened an account on Bluesky but not done much there. If we want #tleap discussions I doubt it will happen here (never mind the ethics of X) and we might want to think about setting up a space elsewhere collectively. At the moment its very fragmented
Despite only tweeting and liking the niche topic of #tleap my timeline on this app shows me anything but...
Where can online discussions happen now? Linkedin? BALEAP mailing list? Mastodon?
Missed this at the time but reposting as it's a good question with good thread so far.
@AL_BALEAP and other #tleap colleagues - what would you say are the major contributions of Ac Lits to EAP? and conversely, what are the contributions of EAP to Ac Lits (if any)?
Many pre-sessional courses in the UK now have far fewer students than in pre-covid boom years.
How have the courses changed as a result of being smaller? less factory-like? more scope for experimentation / alt approaches? Smaller classes? Different institutional remit?

Many in #tleap are studying part time. Maybe this is of interest.
Also this site they mention with personal accounts of part time doctoral researchers https://t.co/T1X3IKXcZp

@AL_BALEAP Thanks (Angelos?). Would love to discuss this further if you've read it. I've lots of questions about it but it does seem potentially useful for ethnographic studies like mine which have to wrestle with definitions of context to make any analytical sense.
#tleap

Why bother theorising context?
I think this is a very important question for #tleap.
Context can easily be overlooked / downplayed leading to simplifications / unfounded generalisations.
But then, what theories of context can we use to avoid this?

We use collaborative autoethnography and theories of language, critical pedagogy and scholarship to evaluate the forums, looking at aspects like their ethos and the risks and rewards of framing them as scholarship #tleap https://t.co/bnmo9QVyQ2

In our article, we tell the story of how we created the forums to give teachers a chance to talk about their teaching in our rewarding yet often challenging role as EAP practitioners supporting students' academic writing in different disciplines #tleap https://t.co/f2lhujeJUI

An article about a very enjoyable, inspiring and developmental time at work with my colleagues Jeni and @HardmanWil (and others) at Liverpool.
