Next in our Archives A-Z is the letter Q, so we have to go with Queens but which one? We've gone with the 9-day Queen, Lady Jane Grey. This Commons journal extract is from 1553 (after Queen Mary I took the throne), referring to Lady Jane Grey as ‘calling herself Queen’. #TowerA-Z
Continuing our A-Z of the Archives, here is an unusual item. See ‘O’ for Oil Slick Specimen. This bagged sample from the Eleni V was given at a Commons Science & Technology Committee in 1978. The oil tanker was pierced, releasing 5000 tonnes of fuel into the North Sea. #TowerA-Z

As we continue our A-Z of Parliament, we have reached D for Death Warrant! Charles I was brought to trial for treason on 20th January 1649, and was sentenced to death seven days later. From our archives, Charles I’s Death Warrant authorising the beheading of the King!

A recent conservation project by our fantastic collection care team working on repairing and preserving tracing paper documents. This 1884 plan has brittle paper, especially on fold lines. They used water vapour to relax the paper. Here is the before and after. #TowerA-Z
Famous Victorian architect Charles Barry won a competition to rebuild the Palace of Westminster after the Great Fire of 1834. From our archives, here is an intricate sketch drawn in 1844 by Barry. The drawing shows the front and side elevations of the exterior. #TowerA-Z
