Ever since President Trump started cutting USAID funding, I’ve watched governments around the world complain like America somehow OWES them money. And Democrats scream as if the ATM has been unplugged. Here’s my question: Why is it America’s responsibility to bankroll SOVEREIGN nations indefinitely? These countries have governments. They collect taxes. They have land, minerals, energy, agriculture and human capital. They make their own budgets and political decisions. At some point, they have to take responsibility for themselves. Meanwhile, American taxpayers are dealing with: • Housing costs • Groceries • Healthcare • Insurance • Debt • Infrastructure • Their own families struggling to get ahead Foreign assistance can serve legitimate humanitarian, security and strategic interests. But it should NEVER become an entitlement. America is a country with its own citizens and its own problems - not the permanent ATM of the world. If another sovereign nation cannot function without American taxpayers continuously funding it, perhaps the first question should be: WHY?
