A small painting with a remarkable family history. ❤️ Painted by Vincent van Gogh in 1886, ‘Path in Montmartre’ was cherished for generations by the Van Gogh family. Jo van Gogh-Bonger, Theo van Gogh’s widow, kept it on her mantelpiece. Later, her son Vincent Willem van Gogh hung it in his own home. Vincent Willem went on to play an important role in establishing the Van Gogh Museum, where the painting eventually found its permanent place. Want to learn more about Van Gogh and his family?
