https://t.co/975JTnKExF It is now over 100 years since one of the most significant cultural monuments in Western #Norway was first made public. In the journal Oldtiden in 1912 one could read an article with the title; "Five rock carvings at the farm #Vingen, Outer Nordfjord".

Vingen’s surrounding natural landscape is very important as it is integral to Vingen’s context & one of the reasons peoples marked the area with #rockart thousands of years ago. #Vingen is of World #Heritage value, one of the largest #ancient #petroglyph sites in Europe. #Norway

https://t.co/McGYbmriQz We live in a world where mineral extraction sometimes takes priority over the #environment. In the case of the #Vingen debacle in western #Norway, we can also include threats to #culturalheritage, #geology and #ecology. Plight of the Vingen rock art site.

Research documentation at one of the most photographed #Vingen rock art panels, where the #Hornelen cliff looms over the #landscape, a pristine natural setting almost unchanged since the #art was made many thousands of years ago. https://t.co/xwjFDhwVtD

A huge thank you to everyone that has ‘retweeted’ the film to raise awareness about what is happening at #Vingen. Our colleagues in Norway & Internationally are deeply concerned about one of the most important heritage sites in Europe. By retweeting you are really helping.
