@pabinkley Tracking down what happened to all of the community archives the WPA identified, and mapping current locations, would be a MONUMENTAL digital humanities project. But it'd be exciting. #DHSI20 #VirtualDHSI

@lindseyseatter @DigitizingR I want to acknowledge the founder of @DigitizingR, Dr. Margarita Guillory of @BUreligion. She initiated the project and obtained the original grant to fund it. I was her graduate assistant. So all credit for launching #DRR goes to Dr. Guillory. #DHSI20 #VirtualDHSI

@lindseyseatter When we began creating our taxonomy we looked at similar projects like the Database of Mid-Victorian Illustrations (https://t.co/NvR6iqkrRd). TEI provides guidelines for graphics but we developed & modified these guidelines to suit our poem-centric focus #DHSI20 #VirtualDHSI

@lindseyseatter @D__Hutchinson contained, within, or integrated within the text. Making illustrations searchable creates so many opportunities for interesting research questions! #DHSI20 #VirtualDHSI 2/2

@grahamhjensen @lindseyseatter You raise another great point about interpretation. We try to make descriptions/tags searchable for users rather than offering a definitive replacement for them. We also digitize the original illustrations for users in addition to our added markup #DHSI20 #VirtualDHSI.

@grahamhjensen @lindseyseatter Thanks for this question! TEI does provide some guidelines for non-textual components of encoding. Admittedly, I am still fairly new to TEI but perhaps @poetry_digital programmer and TEI expert @martindholmes might like to chime in. #DHSI20 #VirtualDHSI.

Hi, @DHInstitute folks! I took a brief Twitter hiatus to allow space for those educating & circulating info related to BLM. I will be answering questions about my DHSI presentation shortly. #DHSI20 #VirtualDHSI

@RayS6 @DHInstitute @arungapatchka @ETCLatUVic And, I now I will return to my “regularly scheduled programming” of dissertation editing, but I will do so renewed in the work we do together. And THAT is a great feeling! (5/5) #DHSI20 #VirtualDHSI

I remain eternally grateful for @RayS6 and the @DHInstitute team who show up with care & creativity, @arungapatchka who took on new role in an uncertain time & my colleagues at @ETCLatUVic who worked TIRELESSLY to get this together (4/5) #DHSI20 #VirtualDHSI

We also united people around the globe in a time when we are mostly contained to our houses. For our final Saturday session we had one presenter tuning into Twitter all the way from Italy! It was closing in on 11PM for her, but she could still join us (3/5) #DHSI20 #VirtualDHSI

There were so many things I was heartened by over the past 10 days! First, we heard presentations that elevated marginalized communities. Focused on trans people, victims of domestic violence & highlighted the Black Lives Matter movement (2/5) #DHSI20 #VirtualDHSI

Running a virtual conference during a pandemic & a social crisis has been a really eyeopening experience. We are accustomed to creating physical community & that lack of human connection when so much pain is happening in the world is hard to grasp. BUT! (1/5) #DHSI20 #VirtualDHSI
