WAKIL RAKYAT (People's representative). I am profoundly repulsed by the hubris of some wakil rakyat (of both political isles); who, with their lofty egos and arrogance, seem to disregard their fundamental obligation to serve the public. It is hardly arduous to discern their identities and should they persist as candidates for the 16th General Election, I opined, it would be justifiable to marginalize or more appropriately, retire them. Some of these reps consistently treat us with disdain, presuming their time holds greater value than that of others, oblivious to the fact that their ascent to power stems from our votes in the last election. As if, they fail to recognize that we, the electorate, wield supreme authority at the ballot box to decide whether they even deserve another term. As the adage states, "It is better late than never", thus, how commendable it would be if in the coming 16th General Election, we revolutionized our cognitive approach to voting. The era of party-based voting wherein even a monkey or the most unqualified candidate could prevail. WHAT'S CURRENTLY CAPTIVATING? Watching the video content by DS Kamal Amir, the discourse delivered by his distinguished guests, Datuk Gulam, profoundly captured my interest. I) Datuk Gulam articulated that, among the political entities of PKR, DAP, Amanah, UMNO, even PAS, and Bersatu, UMNO presently emerges as the paragon of stability, whereas PKR stands as the most beleaguered by internal schisms. ii) The opposition can currently stay passive as PMX and the government face internal criticism, but they will definitely intensify their efforts and capitalize on each "bola tanggung" (half-court shot) as PRU16 nears. iii) UMNO Secretary-General @drasyrafwajdi proposed that UMNO reassess its participation in the unity government and evaluate the performance of UMNO ministers. iv) The spirit of unity among parties in the Unity Government is likely undermined when PMX is suspected of making unilateral or silo decisions. v) Uncertainty over whether the government's policies are endorsed (supported) by all parties within the Unity Government. vi) That The government formed now is not the absolute domain of PMX or PKR/PH. vii) Many more issues were discussed and analyzed by them. Questions persists in my mind: i) Can PH trust the sincerity of UMNO/BN in GE-16? ii) What is PH's contingency plan if UMNO joins or collaborates with parties other than PH? iii) Is UMNO observing internal divisions within PKR, and the likelihood of DAP factor might impact voter support, particularly among Malay voters? COULD PKR BE ELIMINATED IN 10 YEARS? Oh My Media (@ohmymediacc) quoted Nurul Izzah (@n_izzah) as saying, "PKR could disappear in 10 years if it continues to split" . Isn't her statement humorous?. Firstly, is she not the principal cause of the schism presently unfolding in PKR? Secondly, what measures has she undertaken to reconcile party members who perceive themselves as having been grievously undermined? Finally, if the 'leaks in the ship' are not 'patched' promptly, isn't 10 years too long before the 'ship' might 'sink'? What say you?
