If the @MineralsCouncil is bored and needs something to do, why doesn’t it focus on bringing our best and brightest from across the industry together to develop a strategy to clean up #Wittenoom? Still the most contaminated site in the southern hemisphere with tonnes of #blueasbestos tailings dumped down the sides of hills and gorges - in the middle of the #Pilbara (my home). Local Aboriginal ppl (#Banjima) have the highest rate of #mesothelioma in the world, there is no known safe minimum exposure - one fibre can kill and still is killing ppl…… and will continue to kill ppl until its cleaned up. Now THAT would be something impressive to achieve in our lifetime and a productive use of Minerals Council time, wouldn’t you agree Mr @hughriminton ? Well respected Banjima Elder, and friend, Nabru #Parker passed away from mesothelioma recently…. still fighting to for action to clean up his ppls country.… the government will never have the knowledge to do it. It needs industries best and brightest…… This is a real issue, not a pretend one (like school kids hatin’ on coal 🤦🏼‍♀️) @MineralsCouncil @CMEWA @JohnCareyPerth - what is the latest progress towards a plan to clean up Wittenoom?! what action are all parties taking pls? https://t.co/jSrsT2LBKO #firstworldoroblem vs #realbigfreakinproblem
