#YearR watched a โPoppiesโ animation and read a story called 'Where the Poppies Now Grow', about best friends who join the army to fight for their country. They then used different materials to make their own poppies to help remember those who fought in the war.

#YearR had fun in #forestschool building enclosures for their zoo animals. There was even time to look at some wonders of nature - mushrooms and a wasp gall.

In #forestschool #YearR were counting seashells and practicing their number formation. The children even had time to create a special performance about a dinosaur!

#YearR had fun fishing for different sea creatures and using books to identify them. There was also time left for a bit of mud pie making!

#YearR visited @WellingtonCPrk on their school trip this week! They had a fun-filled day going on a nature hunt, jumping on the bouncy pillow, going on a train ride, finding dinosaurs and seeing animals on the farm!

To end their mini-beast topic, #YearR had a Brilliant Bug Ball๐๐๐ฆ. They had a fun filled day, starting off by trying to escape the giant outdoor spiders web ๐ท๏ธ. They then had wiggly worm ๐ชฑ and caterpillar ๐ races, baked biscuits and made caterpillar bracelets!
Linking to #YearR's mini beast topic this term, the children were all given a minibeast card and were told to travel around our #forestschool like their given mini beast. Mrs Martin shouted "rain" and they had to find shelter before they got wet from her water spray!
Linking to our mini-beast topic, #YearR made lovely insect models from natural materials in #ForestSchool. The children also got to look at an amazing abandoned beehive. We talked about beehives, how they are made, who makes them and felt the special textures when looking inside.
Today at #ForestSchool #YearR did a mini beast hunt! They had a pictorial map of the site and went to different locations to see which mini beasts had habitats there. We managed to identify it a Buff-Tailed Bumblebee!

It was a busy session of #ForestSchool for #YearR! We learnt how to make 10 in different ways using natural objects. We also hung up our leaves with pictures of people who are special to us, and found some snails and marvelled at the different colours!
#YearR listened to the story 'The Perfect Ribbit' about the lifecycle of a frog. They then made their own frogs and tadpoles and created "Habitats" for them.

#YearR listened to our book of the week, "Stanley's Stick", and had lots of "sticky" fun in their #ForestSchool session this week! Some children decorated sticks, others used their imaginations to pretend their sticks were skis and a staff.
