Ya know, we always remember that Luke Skywalker loves him some hot chocolate.
But we never remember to give credit to the man who introduced Luke to the beverage! Stay classy, Lando, the man who actually brought hot chocolate into the EU...

Just when I thought Eeth Koth couldn't get any cooler, turns out his master was a Herglic (named Kosul Ayada)! Herglic are one of my favorite races, and they first appeared in Zahn's Dark Force Rising. #ZahnPlotFirst #StarWars #realcanon
Good morning, #StarWars fam ๐
One of the more significant dates in SW history! #ZahnPlotFirst #realcanon
Everybody always remembers "I am your father" but then forgets the rest of that scene--Luke the amputee. The cybernetic hand didn't undo it. He had to live with it the rest of his life.
Zahn is great because he DOES remember & makes it part of how he writes Luke.

Three awesome things from the Expanded Universe seen in Episode II... and two of those things came from Timothy Zahn!

@Resist_Disney Even movie-only fans have to bow and acknowledge that Zahn influenced the films and Lucas embraced and incorporated his ideas. Timothy Zahn created Coruscant. That came from him. #ZahnPlotFirst.
I have no way to verify what day ๐๐ฆ๐ช๐ณ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ช๐ณ๐ฆ came out, but 28yrs ago this month, the 1st official continuation of the #StarWars trilogy was published! Zahn worked on it for 2yrs; it kicked off 23 years of #realcanon!

Some women of #EpisodeIX!
The real one. The one Timothy Zahn published in 1997/1998.

For #EpisodeIX, #StarWars pulled out all the stops! Timothy Zahn was brought back to write a capstone to the post-ROTJ series. It does not disappoint ๐
So great a 20 year old story can still trend!!

Parenthetically and definitely not related to anything I just tweeted 78 seconds ago, how have I never seen this artwork before! ๐

Tremendously important day! ๐ It's been 29 years to the day since Zahn was given the job to basically create the Expanded Universe we all know and love. After George Lucas, he's responsible for creating the most of the Galaxy.

An older question, but it checks out--stumbled upon @FibroJedi asking abt official representations of Thrawn, so despite it being a year later, I thought I'd answer! This is him in his Chiss uniform on the cover to Outbound Flight (2006)

Defel and Herglic were both mentioned by Zahn in the "Heir" trilogy in 1991. Actually, a Wraith played quite a large role! I just especially noticed the Herglic because I happen to really like Herglic.

Zahn was initially bothered at Lucas' insistence that he remain consistent with the existing Star Wars publications.
He wanted to make his own universe based on the films.
But he found that using what was established not only made his work easier but richer, too! #ZahnPlotFirst
