Lazkiye’nin çoğunluğu Alevi olan Basnada köyünde, yerel halk, Sünni köyünden bir Suriye vatandaşını kaçıran İran bağlantılı üç kişiyi yakaladı. Kaçıranlar, adamı Alevi köyünde öldürmeyi planlıyordu, böylece Suriye kıyısındaki köyler arasında mezhep çatışması çıkarabilecekti.

Üç kişiden biri telefonunu açmayı reddederken, diğer ikisi telefonları olmadığını iddia etti. Ancak daha sonra mezhep çatışması çıkarmak amacıyla sabotajcı olduklarını itiraf ettiler ve güvenlik güçlerine teslim edildiler. Kaçırılan adam kurtarıldı ve telefon, kimlik kartı ve arabası zarar görmeden kendisine geri verildi.

In the mostly Alawite village of Basnada in Latakia, locals apprehended three individuals affiliated with Iran after they kidnapped a Syrian man from a predominantly Sunni village. The kidnappers intended to kill the man within the Alawite village to provoke sectarian tensions between coastal villages in Syria.

One of the captors refused to unlock his phone, while the other two claimed not to have phones. After admitting they were saboteurs trying to incite sectarian conflict, they were handed over to the security forces. The kidnapped man was rescued, and his phone, ID card, and car were returned to him without damage.
