Commercial Real Estate Attorney pushing for better transit, development, and land use for people; @transitmatters co-founder, board member; #Roslindale
The most important and environmentally regressive bus procurement the @MBTA does not want you to understand: we have the choice between new buses that produce either (a) ZERO emissions in Eastie, Chelsea and Everett; or (b) increase current emissions by 65%. T chooses (b)!
@MBTA_CR@ridestheTalot To be super clear, will CR be making AM outbound and PM inbound stops at JFK during the diversion? These stops are not reflected in the posted schedules or any diversion schedule I’ve seen so far.
To meet new state housing law, Newton aims to make its villages a little taller - could add 10k units in 3% of land area mostly by adding a few floors in village commercial areas! https://t.co/mRRt7W41zv
Regional Rail provides equitable, fast, & frequent alternatives to cars. A fully realized Regional Rail system would provide subway-equivalent service, with peak trains as frequent as every 5-7 min. 🚉⚡️

I just royally pissed off the ice cream man by letting my 6yo daughter pay for her frozen treat with change counted out of the coin purse that she brought along solely in hopes of seeing an ice cream truck. He’s lucky I made her stick to quarters! But srsly $5 bomb pop!?
@schmangee@CryptoGeorgist Ooh I forgot to mention that kids up to age 12 are free on all MBTA transit and after that the City issues student transit passes through high school!
@schmangee@CryptoGeorgist For those who can buy housing, City of Boston residential tax rates (with owner occupant exemption) are extremely low such that the cost differential vs many suburbs could even cover the cost of private grade school for 1-2 kids. And yet Boston also has declining kid population.
This news is a breath of fresh air! Hopefully many more stories like this will be coming: With high costs and little new housing, Lexington becomes first town to meet ambitious new zoning law - The Boston Globe https://t.co/8NT1k4tB2D
Finally after so much hand wringing we’ve come to senses and decided that even -gasp- libraries can have housing over the ground floor. To bad this comes after my local branch was rehabbed as only a single story affair. https://t.co/ikrHPTlLXR
Best part: “Due to its proximity to the MBTA Green, Red, and Orange lines, the project is not proposed to include any parking for cars or other vehicles, though bike parking is included.” https://t.co/4MPG5HLQkd
We should be able to fund and electrify the Providence Line and the Fairmount Line by the end of Gov Healey’s first term, but we won’t if the MBTA sticks to the current draft Capital Investment Plan (CIP). https://t.co/hzJ7iyGoJz
NEW from @CommonWealthMag: @jarjoh of @transitmatters says Healey should pause MBTA GM search and let interim GM Jeff Gonneville push forward w/improvements, while urging her to replace Baker appointees to new T board, which he calls “unequivocal failure.” https://t.co/G93k8pIBs5
TransitMatters Executive Director Jarred Johnson tore into the MBTA Board of Directors, saying it was failing riders with the “hands-off approach” taken during a time of crisis for the agency. https://t.co/RXWTFAOjOJ
