Sociopolitical & Sociocultural Commentator 🇳🇬 | Gender, Religion & Society | I examine the world, I form opinions, and I'm usually right | You'll love it here
Let me just quickly say one thing about me that you will notice in my posts.
I love to overanalyse.
I love to infinitely explore nuance.
I am not a big fan of one liners so you will not find much of that from me.
I aim to explain my personal opinions and responses to opinions from others in detail.
That’s how I think, so that’s how I’ll post, slowly, in full, with the reasoning shown.
Systems should be built that make it easy to report and convict cases of sexual assaults and rape promptly.
Strengthening reporting pathways for speed, anonymity, and most importantly, conviction efficiency is necessary to reduce the incidence of rapes.
Nigerian women do not hate Nigerian men as much as American women hate American men.
At least you guys are still arguing about giving her money or giving him sex.
The vitriol in these tweets I am reading is palpable.
@luhyoumf We've lost the spontaneity that made relationships fun.
Now women don't want to appear in love
Men don't want to seem like they're doing too much.
Even in friendships, neither side wants to be the seen as the one who wants it the most.
It's sad.
Gender war conversations from Americans in the TL are pretty much all about whether some sex is consensual or not.
In Nigeria, they are all about women liking money and men liking sex.
Priorities.
Yes it will. The only thing a man cannot contribute to at all in a relationship is pregnancy, childbirth and lactation.
Once that is outsourced, EVERY other responsibility in a relationship can be shared 50/50.
The "physical, emotional, and psychological realities women have historically endured" would have nothing to do with relationships at that point.
The other things you list; accountability etc., will be shared 50/50.
Talking to women about rape is difficult.
There is an implicit compulsion to agree to all her definitions of rape.
If you she says "I had sex with him out of pity after he asked, and I feel raped", you have to agree or you're a rape apologist.
Tough world out there.
We need to stop treating sex as sacred.
Yes, it is how new life is created.
But it can also be recreational, and the vast majority of sexual activity within and outside marriage is not to the goal of procreation.
Treating it as special is why we can't have honest conversations about it.
@_ayandamay The reason is irrelevant. The issue here is the double standard.
If a woman is allowed to pick the sex of her driver, a man should be allowed to pick the sex of his pilot.
@otgyana "Basic human rights" are not objective.
They are determined by collective opinion.
Whether a person should have the right to do x or y is determined by the "opinions" of the people who make the laws.
@daughterofkali_ For the same reason why women do not like seeing other women in "abusive relationships"
If another man is excessively spending money on a woman and she is not worth it (arbitrarily determined ik), then it is right to call him out.
Successfully establishing contact with extraterrestrial life would be interesting for the existence of a god.
If they happen to have any "religions" whose beliefs match one of ours one for one would be proof positive for establishing that religion as true.
@Jennyperrys7 Seeing each other? yes.
Talking to each other? Depends
I understand not having the time to have long conversations about random topics, but there will always be time at the start and end of a day to check in on your partner to ensure they are okay and support them emotionally.
