Pardon this feels post. It's long. And I think I was just trying to sort my thoughts out a little with this. Feel free to ignore it and scroll by if you want.
Let me start by saying I love my community. That will never change.
However, I try so hard. Harder than I've ever tried for anything in my life. I've played the games, I've done the reacts, I've edited videos and posted on socials, I've watched VODs back to check if anything needs changed or adjusted. I've worked myself into madness. For what?
To constantly feel like I'm one of those crash dummies getting throw full speed into a wall. To feel like I'm screaming into a void and there are so many others around that no one can actually tell I'm here and screaming. To know the work but not feel the progress. To feel more isolated than I've ever felt because majority of these people don't seem to want to actually try and make real connections with you for one reason or another. It's all so ... depressing.
And I'm so tired of it. I want to stop crashing into the wall. I want to stop plateauing. I want to stop feeling so alone in a space that is so full of people. I want to be seen too...
On top of all that, I keep being reminded that my brand is as basic as you can get. A demon-kitty with purple hair. How freaking original.๐ There are probably hundreds of catgirls and thousands of purple hair vtuber models out there. And don't get me started on the amount of demons I keep seeing and discovering.
I also keep seeing debuts and rebrands. And sure, I could rebrand too. I could make a whole new model. But ... I love my model and I love being a demon-kitty. I have been one from the start of my vtubing journey. Purple hair, red eyes, thick thighs. It's always been me at my core. I could never accept being anything different. And I can't let that go just because vtubing has shown me how freaking basic I am.
So... why do I keep trying? Why do I just never given up and walk away? It would be so much easier. And I've been known to walk away from things to save my sanity before. So why do I keep trying on this of all things even when it keeps isolating me and making me feel like shit?
I could be sweet and sentimental and say for my community. Because the members of my community mean more to me than I can say. They have healed parts of me that years of therapy never could. They've helped me be able to look in the mirror and not absolutely hate who I see looking back. How is that possible when I'm a vtuber though? That's simple. Acceptance of who I am. Sure, my face in content is my vtuber model. But the person behind it, the emotions, the personality, the things I say, none of that is a character. That is all 100% me being myself. And they accept me for that. They say kind things, they support me, they push me. I'll never be able to repay them for what they have all done for me. So sure, I keep pushing forward for them.
But that's only part of it. I'm also pretty damn selfish. I keep trying for me. I want to prove to myself that I can do this. I want to continue making people laugh. I want to continue being accepted in ways I've never been before. I want to prove being basic is still amazing because it's being authentic to who you are and you don't need to change. But damn is it hard.
If anyone out there feels the way I do, or even partly the way I do: please remember, you are not alone. Even if I don't know you i still see you. I see your struggles, your journey, your hard work. I see it and I feel it too. And it all matters. Please don't forget it. And don't give up. If I can keep pushing then I know you can too.
My classmate was raped on her way back home from university and got pregnant, but couldnโt get an abortion due to the laws. She had to drop out of university where she was studying medicine. Because of pregnancy and childbirth expenses, she couldnโt continue her studies, left college, started working at a coffee shop, lost the fun of her early twenties, and lost the chance to attend international medical conferences she once dreamt ofโฆ all just to give birth to a child she never wanted.
People say, โWhat if the baby you abort grows up and cures cancer?โ
Okay โ but what if the 19-year-old you deny an abortion to grows up and cures cancer?
Now she canโt afford to get an education. Instead, she has to take care of a baby. What about her? An actual living human being???
โAbortion ends potential lifeโโฆ So do property disputes, war, and genocide. You only seem to care about lives when women donโt give birth to them.
