We recently celebrated our first year of recruitment to BaBi Harrogate! 🥳
Born and Bred in Harrogate is being run at @HarrogateNHSFT as part of a group of research projects about families and children to help us learn more about how they can live healthier, happier lives.
Over 1,200 local mothers and babies have been recruited to the project so far. 3 important priority areas have been identified for research projects: 1) childhood obesity; 2) lower deprivation communities; and 3) children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
We celebrated #Red4Research Day at our team Wellbeing Day this week, wearing red to show our appreciation for all those undertaking, supporting and participating in clinical research. 💃
Staff also brought some delicious home-made food to share.
Today we're celebrating the incredible people who make health and care research possible.
Some of our staff wanted to share a special video message on #Red4Research day. How many languages do you hear?
Happy #Red4Research Day from all of us at @HarrogateNHSFT's Research and Innovation Team! 🎈
Our team will be getting together to celebrate #Red4Research at our upcoming Wellbeing Day on Tuesday 24th June. Look out for our photos next week...
It’s #Red4Research day! We’re wearing red to celebrate all the people making research happen. From healthcare staff to researchers, participants to community advocates.
RDN teams up and down the country are sporting red today ❤️
We now have 1134 local Babi recruits and this number is increasing by the day. We're celebrating with a stand in the antenatal clinic at @HarrogateNHSFT on the morning of Tuesday 10th June. We look forward to meeting anyone who wants to learn more about this fantastic study. 👶

Congratulations to Lindsay (Oncology Research Nurse) on receiving a Making a Difference Award from @HarrogateNHSFT! She was nominated for going above and beyond to support a patient she noticed who looked unwell. Her swift action prevented their deterioration. We're very proud
Thanks to the contributions of our volunteers, research takes place to help improve care and find the treatments of tomorrow.
There's many ways to be involved. Rianna took part in research as a healthy volunteer after losing her grandfather to dementia:

When we think about dementia, many people only think of Alzheimer’s disease.
But research into other forms of dementia is important too.
Watch a video of Professor John O’Brien @Cambridge_Uni speaking about this research below 👇 https://t.co/pPQqbeYPk8
With over 30 Alzheimer’s drugs being trialled, research is closer than ever to life-changing breakthroughs 🚀
Rob is taking part in a clinical trial into whether early treatment could slow or prevent dementia. 🧠

The @IMIDBioResource study has now closed to recruitment at @HarrogateNHSFT. We are proud to have recruited 964 participants over the last 3 years, making us the second highest recruiter out of 118 participating sites!

The BSRBR-RA study has been open at @HarrogateNHSFT since 2011 and we've recruited 127 participants so far. Follow-up remains ongoing.
The study first opened nationally over 20 years ago and there have been over 100 research papers published from the data during that time!
The BSRBR-RA study is one of the largest studies in the world monitoring the long-term safety of new drugs prescribed for rheumatoid arthritis.
To keep everyone updated, the study team has started a new blog series.

Past research has helped us identify risk factors for dementia, such as obesity and loneliness.

🩸 Blood shortage Amber alert 🩸 The @NHS urgently needs O type blood. There are over 12000 appointments available over the next 2 weeks that we need your help to fill.
If you are an O type donor call 0300 123 23 23 to make an appointment or visit https://t.co/M9MoIoujIC
Our Oncology Research Team recruited 49 patients to Mammo-50 between 2014 and 2018, a fantastic achievement considering our official target was 10 patients.
It is encouraging to see evidence for safely reducing the number of mammograms needed following breast cancer surgery.
Some results from Mammo-50. Outcomes are similar when women >50yrs with early-stage breast cancer have mammograms less frequently - reducing NHS burden and patient inconvenience/anxiety. Thank you to the 21 @nhsswft patients who are participating in this trial. #bepartofresearch
