A little perspective on psychedelic exceptionalism! I’m convinced that altered states are worth visiting, but not sure which (if any) should be privileged- sometimes the feeling of insight is just the feeling of insight…
@JackGorsline It’s such a clear phenomenon and I’ve seen it a lot…but I’ve also seen people use trip and seem super rational. Whatever is going on there is really intriguing….
What happens when you try 253 substances, synthesize novel drugs, & find yourself in the grips of a serious addiction to novel dissociatives?
@nervewing, who has contributed the most @Erowid reports of any person, tells their story
https://t.co/CA4UdTaPya
@nervewing Given your art skills it 100% should be a mission
What if you went for making the most portraits of dissociative people ? Or you made some sort of visual representation of all your trip reports?
That could be a fun record to chase haha
Bet it could be a book
Why is it that there is a “psychedelic community?”
People don’t often discuss the cannabis community or dissociative or even empathogen community…what’s up with that?
Is there something unique about psychedelics that drives people to craft an identity around them?
I was thinking more along the lines of “psychedelic syndrome” in the 1960s
Psychedelic people despite the different factions seem to be a thing that has been documented quite a while
(Maybe not as extreme now as this article though)

This was legit the most fun I’ve had in a while and I think we covered a lot of meaningful ground about dissociatives — there appeal, there misuse/abuse, and psychoanutics in general
Plus being edgewalkers by studying wasp 🐝
Just did another podcast interview that I am especially very very very excited about! Would love for all of you to listen when it comes out!
Huge shutout @Furthure707@HDourron thanks for having me!
I’ve been attempting to start a longitudinal survey study with email reminders of people who attend psychedelic retreats in Sweden.
It’s leading me to believe that psychedelics might be the most stigmatized in Scandinavian out of any region in the western world? Am I wrong?
Basically, being told you can’t collect emails, even in a separate link. You can’t publicly advertise.
I’ve done online studies in the US before and never had this degree of push back
@nervewing You just got off them…give it time. It’s probably a lot for your brain to adapt too
Even when people get off ssris they can have a discontinuation syndrome that can last a surprisingly long time.
How long has it been? Under 3 months for sure..

I spoke with Peter Hendricks about his fascinating psilocybin for cocaine use disorder study, out today.
Aside from the impressively representative patient population and positive result, there was also a report of spontaneous orgasm!
Full interview (no paywall)...
@nervewing@methamphatamin I’d be curious about how this would translate to non-drug altered states. Given the depth of your experience there it would be interesting to see experience reports of different forms of meditation and how they parallel at all with drug effects. I think your writing is great too
Why do people think some people develop odd beliefs from using psychedelics and some people don’t?
Seems a lot more complicated than just schizotypy-like traits
I have some ideas, but I am am curious about the what people might think
@paulg lol I have always been a colors person and actually got more aggressively into colors and patterns as a reaction to being in a beige environment ✨🎨
