Ottawa County is under a Tornado Watch, a Tornado Warning has just been issued in northern Ottawa County. All county sirens have been activated. Seek shelter in an enclosed building and monitor for updates and alerts on TV, Radio or cell phone apps from orgs like FEMA.
Fire crews are operating in the 200 Block of Calvin Ave. Dispatched to a report of a garage fire. Upon arrival crews found a working garage fire. The fire was quickly extinguished. Damage was confined to the garage area. No reported injuries at this time.
Fire units are on scene mopping up after a fire at Hope Collegeโs DeWitt Center. Dispatched to a structure fire, arriving crews found a fire in the basement being held in check by the buildings fire protection system. Crews completed extinguishing the fire and ventilated smoke.

Crews are working to cleanup a 2.5 mile fuel spill on Michigan/Washington from W. 22nd to Matt Urban Dr. Motorists should use caution while traveling southbound. Anyone with information about the spill or vehicle involved please contact the HDPS Fire Div at 616-355-1020
Crews are currently on scene at the Holland BPW waste water plant. Crews are currently investigating a chemical release. Currently believed to be no danger to the public. More information to follow.
Crews are on scene of a fire in a residence in the 100 block of E. 18th St. possible fire in the basement. Nothing showing upon arrival. On scene command advised that they were investigating.
Fire crews responded to a working car fire in the 800 block of E. 40th. Fire was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries. Damage was contained to the vehicle.
Crews are on scene at 735 Michigan for a reported structure of a possible structure fire. This call prompted by an odor of smoke in the building. Crews are investigating. Nothing found at this time.
Crews were dispatched to a residential fire in the 200 block of Calvin. Fire was extinguished shortly after arrival. Two occupants were checked on scene for smoke inhalation. Pets inside at the time of the fire are all accounted for and ok. Crews were on scene just over an hour.
Units are responding to another report of a residential fire on W.17th near Central. Early reports indicate fire is out. Units will continue to investigate and provide ventilation if needed. No immediate reports of injuries.
