@Jane_Flynn@RetirementTales Yes I could read and write too and Kept telling everyone it was wrong , I spent a lot of time stood in the corner ! I later became a teacher …..
@Headteacherchat Finally, having the mind set that this is a role , it is not a life sentence, I am in control and I can choose to leave and go else where, helped enormously .
@Headteacherchat I employed a home school link worker which helped a lot with some parent drama.I was available to staff but made it clear I did not want long emails out of hours, I also changed staff culture by passing the monkey back “ What could you do about that ?.”
@Nicola123452 Yes when I went to see a cardiologist the nurse said to him, as I walked in “ Head teacher Portsmouth” we must have all been rocking up !
@dan_ofsted@ChairTrust@dave_mcpartlin I was once told by a certain Ofsted inspector that my school couldn’t get an outstanding as it was too early in the year ( we were inspected the second week of the autumn term 2017) .
@dan_ofsted@SwailesRuth Fair enough, but I still wish to make my point that Ofsted isn’t listening. We want Ofsted to be more human, the system has lost that , please feed that back.
@dan_ofsted@SwailesRuth “But reforms that helped to bring improvement have been poisoned by over-emphasis on autonomy and a devil-take-the-hindmost approach. Accountability has gone too far and become punitive.”I quote the great Tim Brighouse. Ofsted badly need to reflect, it is time for change.
@Oldprimaryhead1 Amazing man, I did my probationary year in Birmingham , I met him in my school and said I couldn’t afford to attend any courses at the teachers centre (you paid in those days) he listened and made courses for probationers free.
@Nicola123452 He inspected my school, said we could fail because he didn’t like the way my SCR was set out ( I had followed LEA guidelines). He left my office and my poor admin officer vomited in my bin. They have no idea 🤷♂️ what they do.
