🌱 The Resurrection Plant (Selaginella lepidophylla) is living proof that resilience is one of nature's greatest strengths.
#LANSRET#WangariMaathai
🌿 Have you ever heard of the Resurrection Plant (Selaginella lepidophylla)?
This extraordinary plant can survive for years without water, curling into a dry, brown ball that looks completely dead. But don't be fooled, when it finally receives rain, it unfurls within hours,
turning green again and resuming photosynthesis as if it had never dried out.
Native to the deserts of North and Central America, the Resurrection Plant has evolved this remarkable adaptation to withstand prolonged drought. Scientists continue to study it in the hope of
Reducing plastic usage doesn’t require an overnight transformation. It begins with simple swaps that can make a significant difference over time.
Start by choosing reusable shopping bags instead of plastic ones. Carry a refillable water bottle and store food in glass or
stainless-steel containers. Whenever possible, opt for paper, bamboo, or cloth products. Every plastic-free choice contributes to reducing waste, protecting wildlife, and keeping our environment cleaner.
Small changes, made consistently every day, can create a lasting impact.
Where Plastic Really Goes 🌍
When we throw plastic away, it doesn't simply disappear. Much of it ends up in rivers, oceans, landfills, or scattered throughout our environment, where it can take hundreds of years to break down. Along the way, it harms wildlife, pollutes
ecosystems, and breaks down into tiny microplastics that can enter our food and water supply.
The good news? Every small action counts. By reducing single-use plastics, reusing what we can, recycling responsibly, and participating in community clean-ups, we can help keep plastic
to act.
Climate anxiety reminds us that we care. Action is how we turn that concern into hope.
What action are you taking for the planet today?

Feeling worried about climate change is natural, but we can't let that worry become hopelessness. Every positive action, no matter how small, contributes to a healthier planet.
Plant a tree. Reduce waste. Support sustainable businesses. Restore local ecosystems. Inspire others
🌍 Climate News: A strengthening El Niño could lead to increased heatwaves, droughts, heavy rainfall, and flooding.
For countries like Kenya, it’s vital to:
🌱 Restore landscapes
🌳 Protect trees
💧 Conserve water
🤝 Build resilient communities
We must prepare for climate
Great things happen when institutions work together🤝🌱 Together with Wangari Maathai Institute, SOUTH Eastern KENYA University (SEKU) and Pioneer Insurance , we’re advancing landscape restoration through collaboration, shared knowledge, and a commitment to a greener future.
Soil between our fingers, smiles on our faces, and trees in the ground — that’s what success looks like! In 2025, the journey began with the planting of 10,589 trees—a meaningful first step toward restoring ecosystems and strengthening the natural environments that sustain us. As we commemorate International Forest Day, we reaffirm our commitment through the Landscape Repair and Transformation (#LANSRET) Programme —a partnership with @HeartsOfGreen, @uonbi Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies, and @KeForestService that continues to take root. So far this quarter, the initiative has grown to 18,000 trees planted, reflecting what is possible when shared purpose meets sustained action.
But sustainability is not defined by milestones alone—it is measured through consistency, stewardship, and the responsibility to keep going. With plans to plant an additional 12,000 trees in the next rainy season, this work remains firmly focused on the future. Happy International Forest Day.
