Former UVCAnian and actress Jane De Leon graced the Grade 10 Completion Ceremony yesterday, March 31, 2026, delivering an inspiring message of perseverance, humility, and determination.

Having once studied at UVCA during her third year in high school in 2013, she shared how her early experiences helped shape her journey toward success. She encouraged the completers to stay focused on their goals, remain resilient in the face of challenges, and never stop believing in their potential.

In an interview with Jasmin Rosalinas, a campus journalist, she openly shared her struggles, lessons, and milestones in the entertainment industry. Her presence not only inspired the Grade 10 Completers but also motivated aspiring campus journalists to pursue their passion for storytelling with confidence and purpose.”

Actress #JaneDeLeon set X ablaze after reposting a tweet promoting GL (girls’ love) and praising the rise of Filipino actresses openly expressing interest in doing sapphic stories. She even emphasized that it’s finally time for more women-loving-women media to flourish in the country.

But while many applauded the sentiment, others weren’t convinced.

Apparently, not everyone recognizes Jane as a voice for the sapphic community and some were quick to question her allyship.

“We’ve fought for this space for years, and seeing GL grow like this is truly powerful. This is such a beautiful step forward. I genuinely hope it continues to break barriers, open more doors, and create real opportunities for everyone here in the Philippines,” she firmly shared.

Not everyone was cheering, though. One netizen fired off: “Kuhang kuha neto pika ko eh. Maka asta kala mo laki ng nagawa niya sa GL community eh ang tanong bat wala kang GL project after Darna? Ah, eh kasi ayaw ng team mo? Ayaw ng nanay mo? Dyan ka na lang sa mga straight ate tantanan mo na mga bading.”

And Jane didn’t let that slide.

“Kasama ba kita sa bahay to know everything? There were multiple GL offers after the series. Hindi lang ako ang involved sa decisions. Projects like these require both artists to agree, and there were instances where the other party/partner also declined for their own reasons,” she shot back.

She doubled down in another post: “2026 na. My mom loves the community. Di ka maka-move on? Feeling nanay. Feeling anak.”
