I want to talk about the idea that being trans is homophobic. I find this assertion to be absurd anti-trans propaganda. The assertion is made based on the claim that trans people are “forcing” gays & lesbians to date them.

If you don’t want to date a trans person, I don’t find that inherently transphobic. It’s how you handle the situation that makes a difference. I personally don’t want to date anyone that doesn’t want to date me. Also, for gays and lesbians that do date trans people, it doesn’t make them any less gay or lesbian.

Where it starts to get into transphobia is rallying against us as people, calling us the wrong gender to hurt us, and spreading all these anti-trans lies. That’s where the transphobia lies.

We are a community & need to stop letting right wing influences try and divide us.
