@AswellJane @nckhui School choice (private school) does not mean better education. It means that in public education we as teachers have less funds to invest into our children’s education. As a teacher I spend my money to get my students what they need. We are given $150 for a whole year!

We are wrapping up our study on Astronomy and 1st grade @tchscitech @TransylvaniaSch went to see The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System at the Diane Wortham Center in Asheville. We completed our field trip with lunch at Lake Julian and time to play.

I normally live in a very "positive mindset," but much of this rings true and I am so concerned for traditional public ed across the country. 😢 While our small mtn county is not at a dire level, what will that look like in 3-5yrs? It's much bigger than a free lunch duty, etc.

1st grade celebrated positive class choices with a Wacky-Tacky Mix Match day. They earned all of their gems for the whole class making good choices and being on task. They came up with the celebrations they wanted at the beginning of the year @tchscitech @TransylvaniaSch

I had a proud teacher moment yesterday. My students really surprised me! When they did a problem to start our lesson they were asked to use a strategy we have learned in the unit. These are the multiple strategies they used. Other than the top left 10-frame the students wrote it!

#RedRibbonWeek2022 #celebratelifelivedrugfree2022 One of my first grade parents helped us put together our red ribbon week door this year. The large balloon is this year’s theme and the tiny balloons have the slogan and year for all of the previous red ribbon week themes.
