1st Mingulay trip of the season done & the wildlife must have been missing us as we had risso dolphins, harbour porpoise, minke whale, seals on the beach & the puffins are back too.

A pretty wet one for our first full day of our Autumn in the Outer Hebs tour but still very productive. Loads of grounded migrant geese and one or two surprises. A Pec. Sand was a fine edition along with Pied Flycatcher; but a Corncrake was most unexpected.

Jamie Boyle rang at lunch today to say he'd a funny wader that was ruff-sized with black on the neck and an orange bill at Balemore. So when we pulled up rather casually a couple of hours later expecting a male Ruff it was a bit of a surprise to see this beauty!!
