@naomirwolf Its not actually dark its a misnomer, it does get light from the sun. Its been called the dark side because it cannot be seen from earth. The far side of the moon is more accurate and I think is more commonly called that nowadays.

@DCheverere Basically fuel is heavy, and you only have so much of it. To go in a straight line and then have to deceleration upon arrival you would need to use 5x or more fuel, which would be too heavy to even escape earth's gravity...

@Saith516 @joeygems @BrockRiddickIFB Sorry, but you’re misunderstanding Newton’s 3rd law. A rocket in space pushes its own exhaust gases backward, and those gases push the rocket forward with an equal and opposite force—no air or external force is required.
