Heeseung was born in Uiwang, South Korea, and is the eldest member of the group! He trained for over 3 years at Big Hit Music, starting in December 2016, where he even practiced alongside future TXT members, before rising to prominence as a contestant on the 2020 survival show I-LAND! He ranked 5th in global votes with over 1.1 million, securing his debut spot with ENHYPEN on November 30, 2020, on their mini-album 'Border: Day One'. During I-LAND, his cover of BTS's "Fake Love" scored a perfect 93/100, the highest of the season, showcasing his vocal and interpretive skills early on. The group achieved the fastest Rookie of the Year win in K-pop history, just 12 days after debut, and became the quickest Korean act to surpass 1 Billion Spotify streams in just 571 days! Heeseung's production work on "Highway 1009" marked a creative breakthrough, earning acclaim for its emotional depth.
As part of ENHYPEN, Heeseung has won numerous awards including Artist of the Year (Bonsang) at The Fact Music Awards, Album of the Year (Daesang) and Best Group and Best Tour at the 1st D Awards, Grand Prize at the Asia Star Entertainer Awards (ASEA), Best Album, Fan's Choice, and Global K-pop Artist at the 39th Golden Disc Awards, and Artist of the Year (Bonsang) at the 32nd Hanteo Music Awards! Heeseung's star power has attracted high-profile brand deals, often leveraging his sophisticated yet approachable image. While many are group endorsements, he's secured notable individual and paired ambassadorships too. In 2021, Enhypen became house ambassadors for AMI Paris, a French casual-luxury brand, targeting Gen Z with chic, inclusive outfits. In March 2022, Heeseung became with Enhypen the face of Nike Air Max and Nike Manoa Leather Boots! In May, 2022 ENHYPEN was chosen for the 2022 Coke summer campaign for "Coke X Music. In 2023 Enhypen became Ambassadors for the Italian luxury brand Prada, their first major global fashion deal, causing a sensation at various Fashion events. Heeseung is often featured in campaigns for his center-stage presence. In 2023, they also became ambassadors for Korean skincare leader Dr. Jart+ with Heeseung personally endorsing the Cicapair Sleepair Mask for its hydration. In March 6, 2024 Heeseung and Enhypen were announced as brand ambassadors for Dunkin' Philippines. In 2024, he and Jay became Ambassadors for the Italian luxury jewelry brand Pomellato which aligns Heeseung's elegant style and ENHYPEN's fashion-forward vibe, and in 2025 Heeseung became the Ambassador for the Chinese makeup brand Joocyee, highlighting his massive popularity in China, where he's a top idol on platforms like WeChat!
Heeseung is very much into charity, inspiring fans through acts of kindness. His contributions to charity are primarily through fan-driven initiatives tied to his birthdays and anniversaries. These efforts highlight how his popularity mobilizes ENGENEs (ENHYPEN's fandom) to give back, often in his name.
