yunjin speaking about what she meant when she said ‘i wanna change the idol industry’:
« change doesn’t have to be revolutionary, it’s just you know, you are your most authentic self, you express the things that you feel and if one person resonates with it i think that counts as change, it doesn’t have to be like a huge wave you know what i mean? and in that sense, of course everybody wants to change something and make an impact, i think for me i just want to be a source of courage for people, to be honest and accepting of themselves. »
Yunjin says her nickname was “Giraffe” because she was “not a good dancer” when she first joined LE SSERAFIM.

yunjin told variety the story about her pre-debut nickname “kirin”(giraffe) 🥹
“i certainly was not a good dancer when i first started [..] my first dance teacher ever gave me that nickname and it's because she saw me dance and she was like “oh, my god, you look like you were just... you look like a newborn giraffe." i was like, "you know what? that's kind of cute, though," so i kind of, like... i just took it in and it was my nickname for a while”
Yunjin clarified that she doesn’t mean she wants to make some huge, revolutionary change in the idol industry. To her, real change is much simpler it’s about being your most authentic self and openly expressing how you feel. Even if it only resonates with one person, she believes that still counts as meaningful change.
Ultimately, what she wants is to become a source of courage for others, helping them feel comfortable being honest and accepting of themselves.

yunjin said reading hermann hesse’s novel “siddhartha” made her realize to face weak situations because it brings her closer to her true self ❤️🩹
💭: what parts of this book resonated with you so much that you read it again?
🐶: "in the past, when a very difficult moment came, i used to turn away from the situation and hide behind a mask. because that was the only way to get through life. however, i recently realized the fact that at some point, i have no choice but to face the weak version of myself. i also learned that rather when that time comes, i can meet the true me and the path forward also becomes clear. i was having those thoughts when i encountered siddhartha and the sentences approached me like destiny."
"that i knew nothing about myself, (...) that was due to one cause. i was afraid of myself, i was fleeing from myself."
— a quote that particularly resonated with her from the book
