Spent a little time today honoring the fallen. Was my first time in DC and this was a must on my to-do list. Profound and overwhelming….brings this holiday into perspective.
Today, HCSO hosted a tour of the @HCSOJail for the @texasveterans. The Texas Veterans Commission visited our Brothers in Arms Program, which is designed to assist all veterans housed in the jail with the resources, guidance, and support they need during their time with us.
The Brothers in Arms Program is not just about assistance — it's about building a community within our facility where veterans can connect, heal, and find the strength to move forward.
We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Texas Veterans Commission. #HouNews
Since the Brothers in Arms program was established in February 2019, over 1,600 veterans have received programming and resources. In 2023, with the assistance of our Texas Veterans Commission partners, we identified over 2,000 veterans incarcerated at Harris County Jail.
First known as the “Badge for Military Merit," George Washington created the #PurpleHeart more than 240 years ago, making it the oldest U.S. military award. Today, we honor Purple Heart recipients and their loved ones for their service and sacrifice.

Our crisis negotiators received some awesome training in Sugar Land! The topic was about trauma effecting veterans and involved other officers from the HCSO and Sugar Land PD, as well as a Veteran Affairs clinician. We owe it to our veterans to guide them through their crisis with professionalism and compassion. 🇺🇸
More Than a Talking Point
Today marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Month, where we aim to raise awareness, fight stigmas, and prioritize the importance of Marines’ emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
While mental health should always be at the forefront of self-care and troop welfare, this month provides an opportunity for the world to focus on supporting those who are struggling.
Marines, remind your brothers and sisters to take action to ensure mental fortitude. If a Marine next to you is struggling, guide them to where they can receive the necessary help.
Let’s continue the fight for mental health and help create a movement for change.
