SCOOP: ‘The ICE List’ wiki was updated overnight with an entry for David Brouillette, the agent they allege is responsible for the fatal shooting of Joan Sebastian Guerrero on Monday morning in Biddeford, Maine.
America already made daylight saving time permanent once. In December 1973, 79% of Americans supported it and Nixon signed it into law. By February 1974, eight weeks into the experiment, support had collapsed to 42%. The policy never changed. Winter arrived.
Sunrise in Washington DC came at 8:27am. Kids left for school in total darkness, carrying flashlights and wearing reflective tape. When Congress moved to repeal, members cited the deaths of eight Florida schoolchildren in the first weeks of the change.
The energy case collapsed too. The whole point was the oil embargo, and the Department of Transportation concluded the fuel savings were too small to matter. Ten months after signing it, Congress repealed it and Ford put the country back on standard time.
There's a mechanism that makes this cycle repeat: permanent DST is only ever voted on when the sun is up. Polls run in the abstract, votes happen in warm months, and the benefit, a free hour of evening light, is easy to imagine year-round. The cost is concentrated in about 10 weeks of dark winter mornings and only becomes real after implementation. So the policy polls beautifully right up until January.
Today's vote happened in July. The 1974 law passed in December, right before the exact winter that killed it. If this clears the Senate, the first real test arrives in January 2027, when sunrise in Indianapolis comes after 9am.
Sleep researchers have watched this loop for 50 years, which is why the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the AMA, and the National Sleep Foundation all back the opposite reform, permanent standard time. Congress just picked the one version of clock reform America has already tried, hated, and repealed.
Fun Fact: The President of the goddam United States paid nearly $6 million in damages today to a woman he raped. Once upon a time, this would have been the only news you heard.
I couldn't understand why the FBI was investigating Lindsey Graham's death—in the absence of any suspicious toxicology report in the autopsy—until I realized it gave Trump and his lawyer Kash Patel an excuse to enter Graham's house and remove potentially incriminating documents
Ossoff: "We understand the president may be threatening to declare sitting senators illegitimate. If that's the course of action he pursues, he's calling Georgia voters illegitimate ... he was humiliated and furious as a committed lifelong racist that it was Black voters in Georgia who were instrumental in his defeat"
A reminder on the evolution of 2020 "stolen election" theories: First we had mail-in fraud + Dominion + "illegal law changes" (Nov–Dec 2020) then → Georgia election workers + foreign interference/Italygate (Dec 2020–Jan 2021, concurrent) then → 2,000 Mules (ballot stuffers) (2022) then → social-media-censorship revival via Twitter Files (Dec 2022) then → renewed foreign-interference claims (2024–present).
Through all this, we've had:
1. Dominion getting $787 million from Fox News for defamation
2. Rudy Giuliani admitting he lied about Georgia election workers (and the jury awarding the workers $148 million)
3. Sidney Powell admitting in court "no reasonable person would conclude" her claims of election fraud “were truly statements of fact"
4. The Gateway Pundit retracting claims of election fraud in Atlanta
5. The Media company that put out D'Souza's 2,000 Mules film apologizing and removing it after law enforcement proved it falsely accused people of fraud
6. Newsmax and One America News Network (OANN) settling with Smartmatic
It is NOT true that none of these allegations have seen a court room. Most have. Of the 64 cases of fraud that Trump and his legal team filed in court, 30 were dismissed that included a hearing on the merits, 14 were voluntarily dismissed by Trump and his allies before a hearing, and just 20 were dismissed for lack of standing before a hearing on the merits. One case, involving far too few votes to impact the election, prevailed in Pennsylvania. That case was about voter ID deadlines, not election fraud.
Those are the facts.
Whatever happens Thursday night, please try to remember them.
In 2023, ABC News obtained video from Georgia prosecutors' interview with ex-Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis, in which Ellis tells them she was personally informed by a top WH adviser that Trump was "not going to leave" the WH, despite losing the 2020 election.
Hilarious that he cited Mamdani as the most serious threat today in America to a free press while Trump sues, threatens, subpoenas, yells at, and tries to intimidate reporters on a daily basis. But Mamdani is the problem. What a clown.
A year ago, CDC made Cyclospora surveillance optional. It had been tracked for 28 years.
Today: ~3,000 cases across 31 states, no confirmed source, and CDC’s own count (843) is trailing what states are reporting by thousands.
Keep in mind that Trump‘s persistent delusion and propaganda that 2020 was stolen is essential pretext to his attempting to interfere in the midterms and 2028. He’s been laying that ground since the day he was reelected. Wake up.
Why hasn't Ukraine destroyed the Kerch Bridge yet, despite completely neutralizing its air defense shield? The answer is masterclass psychological warfare.
You don't destroy the bridge. You leave it open.
By keeping Putin's prize bridge intact but visibly defenseless, Kyiv is applying Sun Tzu’s ancient rule: build your opponent a golden bridge to retreat across. If you trap millions of occupiers, collaborators, and Russian settlers on Crimea, they will fight to the death out of sheer desperation.
Instead, you leave the escape hatch open and let panic do the work. The message is loud and clear: "Get out while you still can." The massive, self-inflicted exodus of Russians fleeing back to their homeland does more to demilitarize Crimea than a thousand missile strikes ever could. Why waste ammo when the enemy is evacuating themselves? #KerchBridge #Crimea #PsychologicalWarfare #SunTzu #MilitaryStrategy #UkraineWar
Mike Johnson is holding a press conference to yell a lot about "communism," as though that is what Democrats are trying to impose on America
(meanwhile, Trump is seizing the means of production for his regime)
“Mass propaganda discovered that its audience was ready at all times to believe the worst, no matter how absurd, and did not particularly object to being deceived because it held every statement to be a lie anyhow.”
― Hannah Arendt, The Origins of Totalitarianism
BREAKING: Donald Trump is reportedly furious the Reflecting Pool contractors drained it during the day so everyone can see the tire tracks from when his motorcade drove over it before the sealant was totally cured, and now everyone knows he's been lying for weeks about vandals.
The Strait of Hormuz was opened every single day of the eight years of the Obama administration.
And we didn't have to bomb anyone to achieve that goal.
Iran also never acquired a nuclear weapon in those 8 Obama years.
And we didn't have to bomb anyone to achieve that goal.
