@JohnHealey_MP it makes sense that UK does not want to invest in defense. What is the point when diesel is the primary fuel for most UK military land vehicles and naval vessels. UK doesn't store diesel & can't produce it so how can our military operate during a war.
Thx Ed
@Ed_Miliband@G7 Why is UK so vulnerable with no significant reserves & no refineries .
Diesel in UK is approximately 55% more expensive than in USA
TAX
Why is tax on diesel so high in UK 52.95 pence/litre.
@ZackPolanski When Israel ruled Gaza the population increased.
Gaza leader Yahya Sinwar said in 2017 that the discussion was no longer about recognizing Israel but about when to wipe it out. Now that sounds like GENOCIDE. October 7 attack looks like proof
EU are in a panic about whether to release diesel reserves as requested by Donald Trump. In UK we don't have this problem as we don't have significant reserves - no way to produce diesel. UK does have a super hero & secret weapon, Ed Miliband & Net Zero to the rescue.
@LabourfutureUK Don't compare UK with failing nations compare the UK with successful countries if you are proud to be British & believe in it's future.
@CalvinBailey All my life conservatives rebuilt the economy then Labour have come to power & destroyed it for the Conservatives to make the hard choices & rebuild the economy. Until B Johnson,L Truss & R Sunak who were no better than Labour.
So Britain declines & it's people grow poorer
@andyburnham You can't have good social care for more than a short period without a strong economy. You can't have a strong economy by just spending more & more.
The bond vigilanties are watching.
@andyburnham Will you still want to strengthen your relationship with EU if "far right" political parties which are rapidly gaining support come to power in France & Germany?
@andyburnham Are UK pensioners generous?
Rough estimates
Iceland: about ยฃ30,250/year
Switzerland: ยฃ26760/year
Luxembourg: about ยฃ24,200/ year
Netherlands:ยฃ14400/ year for a single pensioner
UK: ยฃ11,973/ year
EU average: about ยฃ13,580/ year

@andyburnham How will you pay for the investment the water industry constantly requires more taxes?
In the seventies all nationalised industries were under capitalised & poor.
Correction the postal service was far better in 70s but that was before emails & Amazon
@andyburnham is Andy Burnham planning to take the UK back to the time before Margaret Thatcher came to power? He is certainly on track.
When Thatcher came to power UK had a huge debt to IMF, known as sick man of Europe, failing nationalised industries & an abundance of strikes
@andyburnham if UK still had a more productive North Sea & had refineries it could be Andy Burnham contemplating instituting a diesel export ban rather than panicking in case Donald brings in an export ban.
Net Zero- it's use of oil that causes global warming not production
@max_redington@Ed_Miliband Did a patriotic local farm tip off the security service or did they know about the threat but wanted to protect their sources? Who knows?
@andyburnham Why is the government gouging the British people profiting from high cost of diesel? 43% of diesel cost is tax, fuel duty & VAT.
UK no longer has refineries to produce diesel & government does not store diesel.
