I feel sheltered employment has its pros and cons. I only have the POV of person-able, but I feel for some, SE is a safe place and an opp. for employment. In a perfect world, all work sites would be safe and trusted, but unfortunately I am not sure we are there yet :( #ED3610
@New_Westminster ... You say the Q to Q ferry was created to make places more accessible but it is inaccessible to a lot of people... Even if it's a "trial" think about what you are saying to your citizens with a disability. Goldenrule. #disabilities#ED3610
I would use the RTI process in my classroom through collaboration with family, IRT staff and the administration. RTI needs to be a school wide initiative. Preparation for students needs is ongoing, not just needed in the student's homeroom. #ED3610
CEC's Response to Intervention offers a 3 tier problem solving approach that corresponds with the intensity of the learners needs. They supplement each other, while at the same time offering support of the student's needs with dif. levels of services #ED3610
TIL: About ableism. The belief that a person who is able is somehow better than a person who is disabled. Carmela Hutchinson's article makes me examine my role in enabling an ableist society. Are we inadvertently adding to the problem? #ED3610
When MAiD became legal, I was all for it. Little did I know that for others it was a nightmare come true. For some the "right to die" would become the "duty to die."- Masuda. People are not burdens. Every life matters. #ED3610 - https://t.co/Glp6k4h1BV
TIL: Groups like The Nova Scotia League for Equal Opportunity(LEO) and Partnership for Access Awareness in Nova Scotia (PAANS), ensure people with disabilities have access to their rights, supports and services! #ED3610

1/2 "I now see his disability as an aspect of his identity, I no longer desire to pretend that disabilities don't exist in my classroom". - Cynthis Messer, talking about her son with a disability. A great article on being a Mum and teacher! #ED3610
