Each year, over 680 children & around 630 teenagers and young adults between 15 & 24 are diagnosed with blood cancer.

The Rare Cancers Bill has received Royal Assent and is now law.
I am proud to have supported this Bill through every stage in Parliament, and to have served on the Bill Committee.
The Act will improve rare cancer treatment by enhancing data-sharing and requiring public reporting on access to life-saving orphan drugs, offering new hope to patients and families.
For too long, those affected by rare cancers have faced fewer treatment options, less research investment and limited access to clinical trials. This is a vital step towards changing that, driving research and ensuring rare cancers are treated with the urgency they deserve.
Good politics changes lives. The best politics saves lives.

We welcome the appointment of @SharonHodgsonMP, the new Minister at the Department of Health and Social Care and look forward to working together to deliver real progress for people affected by blood cancer.
Also great to hear someone mention charity shops as potential community spaces which could be useful for PPIE … reminded me of our Science & Shopping events @tenovuscancer many years ago

We’re also grateful to @DrScottArthurMP for bringing forward the Act and for working closely with cancer charities to ensure it addresses the challenges faced by people diagnosed with a rare cancer.
We’ve proudly supported the Act throughout its journey in Parliament and are thrilled to see it become law.
Thank you to everyone in our community who wrote to their MP asking them to support the Act, your voices truly made a difference. ♥️
The Rare Cancers Act 2026 will help drive better research, improved data collection and greater access to clinical trials for people affected by rare cancers, including some blood cancers.
