We've talked about how much World Cup has changed/will change (5 subs vs. 3, mandatory hydration breaks), but 11 subs have turned these friendlies into a pair of split-side games.

in '94 it was about the USA as the final frontier for the sport. And for a little while (maybe till '11 or so) it felt like there was no limit for the game here.
But since, it's just been about cashing in - or worse, just a place to park money.

@SivaPrasad92540@mthead141@maumeeandy The old NASL had much larger tv audiences and for a few years, larger attendances, but extended themselves (over-expansion, high salaries). Indoor became popular as well. US soccer history is chaotic.

TNT has been looking for a win for a long time. 800k is solid but the USMNT would pull around that number frequently on ESPN.
Not to mention Nielsen has goosed their methodology TWICE since 2020.
