Jamaica is a global cultural powerhouse, yet we lose billions due to chronic underinvestment in creative infrastructure. Our artists and filmmakers dominate internationally but are forced to create abroad because Jamaica lacks world-class production facilities.
This isn’t just a creative issue—it’s an economic crisis. The 2024-2025 budget proves the problem: 57% of the JM$3.2B allocation to arts and culture goes to salaries and travel, while only 2.5% is invested in infrastructure. Meanwhile, other nations are building state-of-the-art production hubs, attracting billion-dollar investments, and leaving us behind.
The solution is clear: Jamaica must build a world-class creative production hub. A US$60M Public-Private Partnership could position us as the creative capital of the Caribbean, generating thousands of jobs and unlocking massive economic growth.
The world is looking for new production destinations. Jamaica has the talent and global influence, but without infrastructure, we will continue to lose out. No more delays, no more excuses—it’s time to build.
