π§βπ Let's dive into Hermes Protocol's development progress so far & what's about to come next! w/ @Chinoman10_
π Sneak peeks of upcoming features? Yes β
π₯ Keeping up with the #buidling spirit during this #bearmarket? Damn yes π
"Wallets on Sui are terrible, even after 15 months of mainnet"
...and the reason is deeper than just rushed-out apps.
@SuiNetwork, like every other blockchain platform, has taken an largely un-opinionated view on how tokens and NFTs should be implemented on Sui. Where should the asset logic live? In the token? In some connected smart contract? Who knows - dealers choice.
This is great from the POV that it encourages experimentation, but is quickly coming up on the hard problem of co-ordination around standards. Because there aren't any.
This is like when electricity was invented and there were no standardised plugs and plug sockets. Great, you can use this incredible new invention - not so great, no one can plug the damn things in.
DeFi runs on standards.
These standards are important because they allow everything in the stack - from the user transaction, to the wallet interfaces, to inter-smart-contract interactions, to work together.
DeFi works because the "objects" tokens/NFTs/Interfaces are standardised. ERC20, ERC721 etc - but generally poorly when done at the smart contract level. An untold number of hacks have happened just because of the insane "infinite approval" function for ERC20s.
However, these standards only happen through a lot of really hard, and pretty tedious work. If it doesn't, one token is implemented in one way, and another in a completely different way - and you get chaos - chaos in wallets, dApps, interfaces and everything else from having to adapt, adopt and adjust to all the competing standards.
And when a new one needs to be built - the process for every single dApp and wallet that wants to use it, has to start all over again.
Ethereum took years to get to a "working" EIP process, and holy crap is it painful. Sui, by taking an entirely new approach to programming smart contracts, and not being opininated, is now having to work through this pain.
The thing is, with some more thought into the architecture of the system, it didn't need to be like this.
For Radix, we took an opinionated view on how NFTs, Tokens, Abstracted accounts, auth systems etc were implemented and enshrined them into the layer 1 itself.
This is the Radix Engine: https://t.co/92DOiFxWSl
By doing all this work upfront on defining standards that are enshrined into the network itself, there is no arguments on standards.
What is more if a new one needs to be added, it is done at the level of the network - and suddenly everyone is compatible with it - no re-work required - because dApps, wallets etc are implementing the standardised interfaces into the Radix engine, and rely on the enshrined models.
This is like inventing electricity, and then also inventing a type of plug that everyone universally uses, but with the magic property of when a new upgrade needs to be pushed, it gets pushed to all of the plugs, simultaneously. No ripping out required.
What is the upshot? Every token type that is created on Radix, in whatever permutation...displays immediately in wallets, has complete human readability in transactions, is instantly compatible with custody/exchanges and anyone else that has already integrated Radix and just...works.
Was it easy? No, it probably added around 1.5 years to the development time of Radix, and required the input of hundreds of pieces of developer feedback to get right.
But was it worth the extra time? Absolutely. Because, while it was boring, it was 100% necessary to make sure that developers could just get on with the important job of making awesome dApps, and not continually have to battle with competing or badly implemented standards from hundreds of people all rushing to get to market.

@DanielGoul239 Are you sure you need a VPN ? In quite a few countries with geo-blocks, they do it at a DNS level, so you only need to use a different DNS like @Cloudflare 's 1.1.1.1 (or better yet 1.1.1.2 which includes anti-malware too).
Iβve been buying memes on both @radixdlt and @solana for the past several months.
My gains on Radix far outweigh my gains on Solana. Itβs easier to spot winners, and avoid rugs on Radix.
Iβm talking 2000X, 100X, 10X, 5X, 2X all of the above. Radix is the better chain for memes

What if there was a better way?
Scraping email all together? Email is dead, chat is king. That has always been our premise going in all our developments.
Still at an MVP stage, but our 'For Business' offering is already pretty serviceable.
We allow you to create privacy-centric Discord/Telegram chat-native and platform-agnostic Newsletters (or any other written content).
DM if you're interested in trying it out.
Absolutely.
Our development efforts have mainly gone towards our B2B platform (aptly named 'Hermes Protocol for Business') which enables any business (on Radix or any Cosmos & EVM chain) to capture 'web3 subscribers' to send 'chat-native communications'.
In parallel, we are also working on revamping our notifications of on-chain events as we've realized the way we started developing it, although very easy to scale (infra-wise), it was a huge burden to maintain and expand (dev-wise).
@radixdlt businesses can already sign-up at https://t.co/CskUDIb6pw and start creating their 'web3 newsletters' or 'web3 alerts' while protecting their subscriber's privacy (no email address or social account is 'leaked' to the business, and businesses always require an explicit opt-in from the subscribers).
Long-term, we are also researching potential uses for a Hermes token, but until we've locked it down, we're keeping it under the "rumour status" as we prefer to not overpromise.
In bull markets, Layer 1 blockchains steal the spotlight.
Remember when people grabbed:
- $MATIC at $0.02
- $SOL at $1.5
- $AVAX at $3
Now, let's focus on the next potential superstar of the upcoming hyper grow cycle π§΅β¬οΈ

As a follow-up piece of news:
π Update on @terra_money Governance Integration: We've fixed the issue impacting our Terra Governance notifications.
π Due to this unfortunate mishap, we have been excluded from the Terra Delegation Committee's recommendations for a large delegation from TFL, as both we and everyone else using our system for Governance notifications didn't get notified of new proposals.
π We sincerely apologize to all communities and users who depended on us to be notified promptly. This is an issue we take very seriously and will be conducting a rigorous review of our monitoring systems to avoid such issues in the future.
π£ For those subscribed, we've sent updates on the 2 active proposals. Your voice in governance is crucial, and we're here to support it.
Questions or concerns? Open a ticket on our Discord server or DM us anytime.
We are happy to announce that our platform is now compatible with @StationWallet once again π₯³
@terra_money users who still need to get a @discord or @telegram account linked to their Hermes Protocol account can log in again, set up all their notifications, and manage their subscriptions.

Can't wait to have some notifications for those TVL/Liquidity increases/decreases!
Specially important on low-liquidity pairs as a large deposit/withdrawal can make a huge difference.
New listing alerts are really good for speculators who enjoy being the first liquidity providers too.
@deepdowncrypto @radixdlt Once our platform goes live with the newest Babylon update, you'll be able to get notifications for liquidation alerts (provided you're using a DEX such as @ociswap or @DefiPlaza and not a CEX as we don't support those).
Then, you can fine-tune it to even wake you up if needed.
Your favourite influencer may not be on on the @radixdlt train yet, but some interesting groups are certainly paying attention.
DLT is the future. Donβt let the noise distract you from the truth.
