There was a lot of standing water but it’s mostly lowered now that the water is shut off. Everything is soggy still

Just found out we won’t be able to get back into our apartment at all. Going to have to write a list for contractors to try to salvage for us and bring outside. Then I have to write a list of everything I own for my insurance from memory. This should be fun

To have the support we have and that we both made it out unharmed. Some of the people in our building had to jump out of their windows and broke legs, we were lucky on being able to walk out. Anyways, thanks for reading my rambles, just needed to write out some feelings. (14/14)

Update on our current situation: a thread.

Our apartment is a total loss so we’re looking for a new place to live. Our insurance is being very helpful and we have plenty of time at hotels covered to do what we have to. Our apartment didn’t get hit in the actual fire, (1/14)

The two of us are thriving but we’re doing a bit better. Still feeling more numb than anything but with everyone around us holding us up, we’re starting to thaw and relax a bit, and just take everything one step at a time. Constantly reminding ourselves how lucky we are (13/?)
