🚨 Muslim woman injured after being shot in Capitol Heights, Maryland, USA

A Muslim woman was injured after being shot in Capitol Heights, Maryland, on Monday, in an incident that her family and a local advocate group claimed was a hate crime.

Police said a woman was found shot on the 500 block of Richie Road shortly before 1 p.m. and taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

In a statement from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the group said the woman, who was wearing the Niqab, was shot at several times while she was leaving a shopping area.

The victim’s brother said she was struck in the left arm and believes the gunman may have been aiming for her head.

"After she realised she was being shot at and got shot in her left arm, he seemed to want to aim for the head. So she started covering her head with her left side. And thank God she had enough strength and courage to duck in that situation,” he said.

Police said the suspect fled and an investigation is ongoing.
