Let us take a step back. The vitriol and hate that is constantly being disseminated is too much. We beat Duke in two monumental/epic/irreplaceable basketball games. Yes. Absolutely. And State lost to everyone. But, can’t we be civil. It’s just a game, that we are better at 🧵
@VTrantolo@BenVolin To be fair, Hospital Administration major. Now I peddle potent potables in 32oz cups. I did not realize you went to NC state with such outlandish rhetoric. I too was a certified referee. I appreciate your enthusiasm. Save it for USA, friend
Gavin Gallaher becomes the second @DiamondHeels player to receive an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award since the award’s 2007 inception, joining Vance Honeycutt (2024).
Gallaher entered today ranked fourth nationally and first among non-catchers in Defensive Runs Saved (19.37).
Regardless of the last 3 teams to qualify for Omaha, the 24 spots in the 2024, 2025 and 2026 Men's College World Series fields will have consisted of 23 different schools.
Only North Carolina (2024 & 2026) has been there twice in the past three seasons.
LSU is doing a masterful job of compiling the sleaziest group of coaches ever assembled. Just employing Lane Kiffin puts you near the top of the list, adding Will Wade is the cherry on top. There will not be a single truth spoken in that athletic department
The 2022 season cemented Hubert Davis’ positive legacy as head coach.
However, hard to overcome these numbers:
125-54 overall, 28th in D1
19-24 vs AP Top 25
28-47 vs Quad 1
2 Rd of 64 losses
1 missed tournament
Ended season on 3-game losing streak, first time since 1970
Wrap your brain around this:
North Carolina has (unofficially) either missed the Tournament or lost in the 1st Round in 5 of the last 7 seasons
(I say "unofficially" becasue there was no 2020 Tournament, but Carolina would have 100% missed it)
North Carolina is now 48-2 when leading by 10+ at halftime in the NCAA Tournament.
Both losses were under Hubert Davis.
2022 National Title vs Kansas
2026 Rd of 64 vs VCU
Caleb Wilson finishes the season averaging...
19.8 PPG, most by a freshman in North Carolina history (Tyler Hansbrough, 18.9)
9.4 RPG, 2nd-most by a freshman in North Carolina history (Antawn Jamison, 9.6)
Both are also top-10 in ACC history by a freshman
Coby White on his former coach Roy Williams being in attendance:
“He called me last night, told me he was coming through… obviously a legendary coach but I’ve been gone 6-7 years, for him to still reach out, our relationship is bigger than basketball. He’s helped me through a lot of tough times in my life and he continues to help me.”

A week has passed, and what seemed likely is now patently obvious. There is zero evidence that anyone from Duke’s basketball program was “punched in the face” at the Smith Center last week. Nor is there any evidence that a staffer was “trampled on the floor” or “in a complete brawl”, for that matter. Some have asked why I’m talking about this. It’s certainly not because of a sports rivalry. That’s no business of the DA’s Office. But I’ve seen firsthand how reckless accusations of violence incite more violence, and that is my business. Someone with the power and influence of a major men’s basketball coach should exercise more discretion before just saying things that can have real-world consequences.
