@ChechenCenter Didn’t the USSR collapse after its long war in Afghanistan, with several republics declaring independence, like Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan? Could the same thing happen to Russia after the war in Ukraine, with republics like Dagestan or Chechnya seeking independence?
@clear_em_out@sadbathy Yes kidnappings were made during this time but they were isolated incident that Russian propaganda amplified. Moreover, most of them were made by Russia payed agents like the Yamadayev family. Russia kidnapped civilian and there is still around 7’000 people missing until this day
@clear_em_out@sadbathy What really happened was that the Chechens knew the peace treaty signed by Russia was worth toilet paper, and that Russia was only doing it to buy time before attacking again. So, rather than waiting to be attacked, they preferred to have the fighting take place somewhere else.
