Here are 15 of my neighbors working to help one neighbor Kasiwa build a new mud-construction kitchen.

1. Every week neighbor gets a chance to build one building, or work on a farm, or various help like cleaning, soap making etc. (It costs no $)

2. When you get helped you help back in return - the tradition here is called Mweria.

3. At the end of each cycle of neighbors they have a gathering (called a Dhome) for celebration, settlement of debts and planning the next cycle.

This represents an intangible commons of commitments - that produces a mutual credit system and is the way (it seems) nearly all humans have lived and thrived pre-empire, pre-colonization.

These people are happy, caring for eachother, they have a voice, they share skills, have purpose, feel like they belong, build infrastructure, and farm sustainably.

For most people these practices have vanished like the last breath of an endangered species. This group of neighbors in the video - had not practiced Mweria since these women were small children. It came back because a few people gave their commitment to help others and started a cycle - and it has been going on for years now.

I'm proud to be part of and give great cheers to groups like @grassecon for helping such endangered species of social humans remember what is possible together.

I pray that we could all be so blessed to have this kind of community in our own neighborhood. It all starts with you. This can be your reality wherever you are. Even if you get together solely to cook, laugh, tell stories and have fun. You'll find ways to help each other and the environment around you.

This is what humans have always done and we still can.

@dilgreen in the terms of this thread, simbi pre-federates all members' producer credits with a single UoA, works fine.

most interactions are bt indivs online, but we have lots of local activity as well, e.g. Community Exchange Network Tasmania is an active ~dunbar-size "group" on Simbi.

Without actual mutuality, experienced as an important aspect of the system by members (ie they aren't just 'users'), it ain't a mutual credit folks - just a different kind of bank.
