Meet MAGAt Eric Michael James, 53, a registered Republican and Trump campaign donor. The former Brooke High School principal in West Virginia was arrested and booked into the Northern Regional Jail on September 3, 2026. His arrest followed a law enforcement investigation after campus security and school staff uncovered hidden recording devices on school property.

The allegations state that James covertly placed four separate digital recording devices inside the girls' PE locker room, the female athletes' locker room, and the dance team changing spaces. Investigators secured direct evidence linking him to the crimes after James reportedly admitted to placing the four hidden devices inside these female student areas. Following these findings, the Brooke County Board of Education voted 4-0 on September 15, 2026, to officially terminate his employment contract.

As of September 15, 2026, James faces a total of four felony charges. These include three felony counts of intentionally intercepting or attempting to intercept wire, oral, or electronic communications and one felony count of breaking and entering a non-residential property. His cash-only bail was doubled from its initial amount to $200,000 during his preliminary hearing in Brooke County Magistrate Court.

In addition to the criminal charges, multiple civil lawsuits have been actively filed against James and the school. On September 13, 2026, a class-action lawsuit was initiated on behalf of nine female student-athletes who used the compromised changing spaces since the beginning of the school year. The legal actions seek damages for the severe invasion of privacy and the psychological distress caused to the minor students.
