With so many folks sleeping rough and shelters full this weekend could be devastating. For those who can make use of them, some emergency spaces:

Even while we celebrate The Sunflower and safe secure housing, we're hearing from families with absolutely nowhere to go. We continue to give out tents and sleeping bags. If you have camping gear you're not using, pls consider donating. This is our #housingcrisis

ICYMI Ally Centre of Cape Breton needs tents donated, already given out 50+ to folks experiencing homelessness with no safe place to go. Christine Porter says some ppl choose to go camping, but this isn't choice. Cold weather is coming, there are no places to go, no #housing.

A little sunshine for your rainy morning, having spent the 1st day of spring at The Sunflower. Cheery yellow doors will open into HOMES for folks struggling thru this housing crisis. Blue skies, all 5 buildings up. It was a wonderful hope-filled day.

Here's one way to fill the tank, to stop by our construction site and see work in progress. The last of The Sunflower's 5 buildings is now going up. Halifax, we have never needed this more, affordable accessible sustainable housing. 🌻 #rapidhousinginitiative

The language used here: “safe” “nice” “peaceful” is meant to imply unhoused people are not safe, that they are not nice, that they are not peaceful. Our experience with unhoused people tells a different story. Pay attention to language and you’ll understand bias.#Hfx #community
